The official launch of the town’s Poppy Appeal along with the re-dedication of the War Memorial Gardens has taken place to mark the build up to Remembrance Sunday.

Bridlington deputy Mayor Cllr Shelagh Finlay attended the re-dedication ceremony and then also attended the launch of the Bridlington Poppy Appeal in the Promenades Shopping Centre along with veterans, British Legion volunteers, cadets and members of the public.
Simon Wrigglesworth, Honorary Organiser of the Bridlington Royal British Legion Appeal, said: “I would like to thank all those who attended the events. Volunteer Poppy sellers, veterans and cadets will be in the Promenades Shopping Centre every day until Remembrance Day, and we will also have dedicated stalls in Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons.”

* The Remembrance Day commemorations will be held on Sunday 13 November this year. Participants are asked to muster at no later than 10.30am if they wish to parade. The Commemoration Service will be conducted at the War Memorial Gardens on Wellington Road and people who want watch the ceremony are asked to be in place by 10.45am.
The Remembrance Service will commence at 10.55am and after the ceremony the parade will then march along Prospect Street, taking the salute and then on to King Street where participants will fall out.
Free parking will be available in all ERYC car parks and also in the Harbour Commissioners car park.
Bridlington Town Council (BTC), who are again organising the event, have also put out an appeal for parade stewards to help with the smooth running of the event.

A Town Council spokeswoman said: “We are hoping for a great turnout after the huge numbers that attended last year. To make the event run smoothly we are in need of volunteer stewards who can help on the day. There will be some training, including health and safety beforehand.”
Wreathes can ordered directly by calling BTC 01262 409006.
