Bridlington submariners have a brand new Parade Standard – thanks to a grant from the Town Council.
Mike Rubery, who is the Secretary. Bridlington & District Submariners Association, said: “We have at last been able to acquire our very own Parade Standard and we would like to sincerely thank the town council for their support.”
The club was formed in 2015 by several local veterans and serving submariners – including the first serving female submariner of the Association.
Club president is Cliff Wilson, 94, who is one of the few remaining World War 2 submariners in the country.
Monthly meetings are normally held at the Coachman on Hilderthorpe Rd, but have been held on-line during recent months. Any local submariners are invited to join.
A blessing of the standard will take place at Emmanuel Church on Cardigan Road at 11am on Sunday May 2nd 2021 under the prevailing restrictions.
