Local community volunteer groups in Bridlington have been dedicating their time and grant money to a number of projects to improve the quality of life and boost civic pride in the resort.

The Regeneration Of Bridlington Old Town (ROBOT) has been awarded grant money from the Marjorie Kirk Fund, administered through Bridlington Town Council, which they have used to purchase 25 half barrel planters, filled with donated soil and compost from ERYC Ground Services team,
and planted with colourful spring plants purchased from businesses in the town.

The planters have been placed at key locations along Market Place and High Street, outside businesses who have kindly agreed to water them regularly.
In addition, a brand new voluntary group, Bridlington In Bloom (BIB) has been established, with aspirations to take Bridlington back into the prestigious Yorkshire In Bloom competition (YIB). To celebrate their relaunch, BIB has secured funding from the YC BID to offer a ‘buy one, get one free’ scheme for hanging baskets, planters, and window boxes, as well as nine weeks of free watering to keep the floral displays looking their best.

The floral items will be in place from July 15th to mid-September, making the town centre and Old Town streets more inviting for residents and visitors alike.
Brightening Up Bridlington (BUB) is also an active voluntary group, conducting monthly litter picks throughout the town, including a particularly difficult area next to the Tesco petrol station, which forms part of the new Gypsey Race Park. Volunteers are always welcome, and meeting dates are posted on the group’s Facebook page.

The group works in close partnership with ERYC Street Scene teams, who provide specially designed pink community litter pick bags and collect the full bags after each litter pick.
