Walkers and visitors are now able to follow the original route along the King Charles Footpath on the East Yorkshire Heritage Coast after a landslip underneath part of the busy coastal path has been repaired

The steps at South Landing had been cordoned off for several weeks with advice to walkers to stay away and divert to an inland after the path.
The steps, which lead down to the Flamborough RNLI lifeboat station, are on the Bridlington side of the pathway.
They were closed and deemed unsafe after the recent heavy rains caused a large slippage of cliff face underneath the top part of the steps.

One local told the Echo: “Even though the steps were cordoned off most people followed the diversion – but some just ignored the closure. Some people like to play Russian Roulette with the erosion and I have also seen dogs that are not on a lead walking right on the cliff edge.”

A warning issued by ERYC Coastal Services outlined the dangers of cliff erosion.
They stated: “Following the heavy rain over the last few weeks, the cliffs are unstable and we have had a few significant cliff falls.

“Please stay away from the cliff bottom if you are walking along the beach.”
