It’s a happy first birthday to Pickle the miracle penguin – already a attraction in her own right at Sewerby Zoo.
A spokesperson for Sewerby Hall & Gardens said: “We are pleased to announce that it is Pickle’s first Birthday today.
“Pickle is very special as she is the first Penguin to be hatched at Sewerby in 11 years.

“What makes her even more special is during the hatching process last year she got herself stuck and had to be helped out of the egg by our Head Keeper John and then hand reared by him at home.

“Without his help and dedication, Pickle would not have survived, she is definitely a miracle.

“Pickle is also Rosie’s first grandchild and is a firm favourite with all of the staff and visitors at Sewerby.”
