Staff at a local primary school have been bowled over by the generosity of
a donation of learning equipment from the Bridlington-based Hudson Foundation.

The charitable initiative gifted 30 iPads to the Burton Agnes Church of England Primary School, replacing a stock of depleted and damaged devices.
The Hudson Foundation is led by Bridlington businessman David Jackson, who has a long-standing association with the village through the ‘Royal’ Burton Agnes Cricket Club.

Mr Jackson said: “I have a strong connection with all things Burton Agnes having been manager of the cricket team for 23 seasons, the first half of which was as player manager.
“When the school contacted us seeking support, we thought it would be avery good opportunity to help the children hit their educational boundaries.”

Gemma Grainger, year 3 and 4 class teacher, said: “We cannot thank the Hudson Foundation enough for its
incredible generosity. The iPads are going to make an enormous difference to the children in our school and we cannot wait to get started!”
The cricket club claims its royal association through a visit by Queen
Victoria to Burton Agnes Hall one summer evening.

Reputedly, the monarch halted her carriage near the gatehouse to watch the locals playing cricket in the
picturesque Wolds village and remarked: “This, is my England.”
In 2024, the club finished third for the third consecutive season in the Bridlington and District Evening Cricket League but won the Hospital Cupbagainst Middleton and North Dalton
