The Bridlington Remembrance Day
event will take place this Sunday, 10th November.

A large programme of commemoration
has been organised by Bridlington Town Council who will once again be facilitating the popular event at Bridlington War Memorial.
Veterans, volunteers and town councillors have already been busy decorating the railings around the
Bridlington War Memorial on Wellington Road with huge poppy petals for this year’s occasion.

Again this year the ceremony will see
hundreds of veterans, service groups, serving military and dignitaries parade
along Quay Road to the Bridlington War Memorial on Wellington Road.
In recent years, thousands of members of the public have attended the event,
which has become one of the biggest of its kind in the area.

The re-dedication of the Bridlington Memorial Garden took place on 26th October followed by the Poppy
Appeal Launch at the Promenades
Shopping Centre where there is a dedicated stand in place in the run up to Remembrance Sunday.

On Monday 11th November at 11am the Armistice Day Service – better known as the traditionalists event – takes place in the War Memorial
Gardens in Bridlington, with visitors asked to gather a few minutes earlier.

A spokesperson for Bridlington Town Council said:
“The Remembrance Sunday service and commemorationis one of the biggest events in the Bridlington calendar and it’s always good to see so many people attend.”

For any organisations or individuals that wish to purchase Poppy wreathes
(£25), memorial crosses (£3) or general poppies (£1), please call into the
BTC offices on Marshall Avenue to order.

Parking for the ceremony is available free of charge in the nearby ERYC car parks on the 10th November and also in the Harbour Commissioners
car park on Bridlington harbour top.

Flamborough School pupils will be paying a poignant tribute for Armistice Day on Monday 11th November at 11am.
As is tradition in the village, an air raid siren will sound for two minutes to herald the start of the event.

Wreathes are then laid by pupils,
villagers and veterans at the foot of the stunning metal Remembrance statue that stands within the school grounds.
