Thousands of residents in Bridlington, Flamborough and the surrounding area have been encountering outages with their internet services this morning.
Many people have taken to social media to find out if any other people are having problems with their internet connections.
It has also been reported that some businesses have been encountering problems taking credit card and contactless payments due to their internet not working, and in some cases they have had to put trading on hold until the problem is resolved.
A planned essential maintenance service has been taking place today at the Flamborough exchange by Openreach engineers. Works were scheduled to take place from 8.am to 6.pm today (7th February).

However The Echo cannot confirm that this planned engineering works has had an impact on broadband services further afield.
It is understood several internet service providers have been affected.

Mark there’s no doubt the internet is a useful tool for all kinds of things.however blaming the internet for not getting to work I think is stretching things.
In are bubble we put this down to poor weather
And just got on with something else like communicating with people close by !!
I’m with sky, my phone has been off for 6 weeks! I have phoned sky and continually get a message saying there is is a problem with the telephone exchange outreach. I have got through a few times and last week they were sorting it out. They booked a telephone engineer to look at the main box and would contact me. Heard nothing, phone still off!
My husband and I are highly vunerable and at high risk. We depend on the phone for hospital/doctor appointments. Totally ridiculous!
