The Bridlington Charter Fair is set to officially open tomorrow evening (21 October) at 5pm, bringing its much-loved mix of rides, attractions and family entertainment to residents and visitors.
The traditional fair, which has long been part of Bridlington’s calendar, will fill the town centre with colour, music and excitement as fairground operators arrive for another busy season.
Visitors can expect a wide range of attractions, from thrilling rides for older children and adults to gentler favourites for younger families. Food stalls offering traditional fairground treats will also be part of the event.
The fair officially opens at 5pm on Wednesday 21 October 2026, with the town Mayor, local dignitaries, and members of the Showmen’s Guild in attendance. And in a Bridlington tradition, every ride the Mayor tries out is opened up for locals.
Another tradition is the ringing of the Fair Bells, once owned by the late James Robinson, which signals the start of this historic celebration—one of the oldest charter fairs in the country, dating back to 1200.
The annual event is expected to attract visitors from across the East Riding and beyond, providing a welcome boost to the town’s atmosphere and local businesses.
Organisers are encouraging visitors to plan their journeys in advance, with busy periods anticipated during Saturday afternoon and evening.
