A model ship display marking the Battle of Flamborough Head comes to Filey Library from Monday 26th to Saturday 31st October, 11am to 3pm each day.

The display features two model ships, HMS Serapis and Bonhomme Richard, lovingly built by craftsman John Wade. The ships represent the two vessels involved in the battle, fought off the Yorkshire coast on 23rd September 1779. Yorkshire Coast 1779 (YC1779) member David Newton will be on hand throughout to answer questions. Entry is free.

The display offers another chance for those who enjoyed YC1779’s 247th Anniversary Festival in September to discover more about the battle.

Yorkshire Coast 1779 continues to research and share the story of how the Royal Navy helped save a valuable British convoy of supplies during the battle. For more information, visit yorkshirecoast1779.com or email yorkshirecoast1779@gmail.com
