Bridlington Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT) received an unusual call out recently.
The team were contacted following several reports from concerned members of the public about a
‘penguin’ which was spotted on the
Bridlington South Beach.
The team arrived on the scene to find the bird…which was actually a Guillemot.
The bird was taken to a local wildlife centre following concerns from members of the public.
“Whilst the Guillemot can be mistaken for penguins when stood on the beach, their long beaks and colours are quite distinctive” said Jordan Grebby from the Bridlington
CRT.
