Bridlington cat rescue appeals for donations after taking in two kittens found in a skip, as further newborn kittens face urgent veterinary treatment.
Two kittens found abandoned in a skip and rescued just minutes before they could have been crushed are among the vulnerable animals being cared for by Purr-fect Pals Rescue Bridlington.
The kittens were discovered by workers at Bruntons Skip Hite on Friday, with the rescuer stepping in to give them a chance of survival.
But the two kittens are just part of a growing challenge for the Bridlington-based rescue, which is also caring for three newborn kittens whose mother has shown no interest in them.
The pregnant cat was taken in by Purr-fect Pals on Thursday, but was subsequently discovered she was feral and was not interested in caring for her babies.
The kittens were born over the weekend, with one sadly stillborn. Two others became weak and were taken to an out-of-hours vet, where serious injuries and concerns about sepsis meant they had to be put to sleep on veterinary advice. The visit cost £265.
The three surviving kittens also required veterinary attention, with a further bill expected to reach between £500 and £600.
Rescue volunteer Theresa is now hand-rearing the newborns, as their mother is unwilling to care for them.
The rescue has appealed for donations to help cover the mounting veterinary costs and continue caring for the animals.
In its appeal, Purr-fect Pals said: “We feel bad to keep asking, but to us every life matters whilst there is a chance of survival, and this is why we started Purr-fect Pals Rescue 7.5 years ago. This year has been horrendous.”
The rescue is asking anyone who can help to donate.
Contributions can be made via PayPal to purrfect.pals@aol.com, using the Friends and Family option, or by bank transfer to Purr-fect Pals Rescue.

The rescue hopes public support will help it continue giving vulnerable cats and kittens the care and protection they desperately need.
