Bridlington RUFC travel to Harrogate to face the Pythons in their first away game of the 2026/27 season this Saturday on the back of a high scoring opening day victory at Dukes Park.

Callam Sanderson’s men had to battle to earn their 47-31 victory against Wensleydale RUFC in an 80-minute performance but will now face a Harrogate side who were also made to work for the full 80 in a 46-39 victory over West Leeds.
The Blue and gold’s next two fixtures pose with them travelling to Doncaster Phoenix who suffered a crushing 96-0 rout, then will take on Hullensians on their return to Dukes Park.

This weekend’s hosts next two outings will be at home next week to Goole who played out a convincing 33-5 victory against Hullensians, then will be back on the road to the Phoenix.
The head coach showed his praises to Josh Stanyon who played a valuable role last week in controlling the play and his perfect game from the boot, he also praised Blake Hereora who showed a lot of grit and determination in second row but confirmed that he will be out of the starting 15 due to a fractured eye socket.

This weekend also shows all three teams playing, the second take on Beverley at Dukes Park so, if you can’t make it down to Harrogate, you could always see the second team in action for their first game, and the colts are also in action on Sunday as they take on Hornsea at home.
Sanderson shared his thoughts ahead of the blue and golds first away outing of the season.

“We reviewed the footage from last week’s game against Wensleydale, a lot of positives to take on it, but also a lot of work to be done which we got done after this week at training.”
“With their first result, it shows that they’ve got a lot of attacking intent and they can score points, I know one or two of their players having played with, Joe Roundtree who may be playing at 10 for them this weekend, they’ve got some good players, and I have no doubt that they’ll be wanting to play an expansive game of rugby.”

“We’ve got a few rotations to the squad this week, we have four lads from the starting team from last week that are either injured or unavailable, but it’s really pleasing to see that after a blow to the squad, we’ve pulled together a decent squad to travel to Harrogate and as well which is equally as pleasing to see to get a second team out to play against Beverley, so it shows that we are moving in the right direction as a club, and I don’t think that it’s happened in a while that we can get a first team, a second team and a colts team out in one weekend.”
