The Bridlington Christmas Tree Festival, at St John’s Burlington (SJB) Methodist Church in Bridlington, promises to be a great way to start the festive season.
As well as almost sixty trees on display, and as part of the celebrations, Sewerby WI will be running a free competition for younger visitors.

Janet Abbott for SJB explained: “A gang of naughty, knitted mice is sneaking off with the mince pies and hiding in the church – we need some help to find the little rascals before they scoff the lot. And for those clever kids who spot them all, there’ll be a little treat.”
There will also be an opportunity to create a free tree decoration. Sewerby WI members will be on hand each weekend to help visitors make something special to hang on their own tree at home.
In addition, the WI will be encouraging visitors to vote for their favourite tree.

Shirley Jackson, from Sewerby WI added: “Lots of businesses, charities, schools, and other organisations are putting a great deal of effort into decorating their trees so we’d love the public to show their appreciation by choosing the one they like best.
“The tree that gets most votes will receive a pair of ‘Unlimited Breakfast’ vouchers, courtesy of the Premier Inn.”
Following the opening, New Pasture Lane School Choir will sing carols.
Musical interludes are also on the agenda. School Choirs, Cadenza Choir and the Church’s own organist, Stephen Parker, will be performing, with more entertainment still to be added to the programme.
Throughout the festival, the church team will be serving a varied menu at different times of day – from breakfast butties to afternoon tea ‘n’ cake, not forgetting mince pies.

.
There’s no charge to visit the event which runs from 1-17 December, but donations will be welcome in aid of the Church and Alzheimer’s Society.
