Following local residents raising concerns about vehicles being driven at excess speed in the villages of Bempton and Buckton, police officers from Neighbourhood Team have been out and about conducting the first of numerous speed checks at various locations in the local villages.
It comes after dozens of concerned residents had gathered at a Bempton Parish Council meeting on 21st January to voice their annoyance and fears over the speed of traffic on the village.
The meeting, which highlighted
ongoing issues with speeding and
dangerous driving, was attended by
ERYC Ward Councillors Maria Bowtell and Liam Dealtry, along with the Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, Leo Hammond.
During the meeting, villagers
expressed their fears about the risks
posed by speeding vehicles through
the villages of Bempton and Buckton and urging measures to increase enforcement to stop speeding vehicles.
In response, the councillors and Mr.
Hammond assured attendees that their
concerns would be taken seriously
and alongside the Highways Agency and ERYC.
