On Saturday, 27th September, the Priory Church Choir will host a reunion for former choristers.
Founded in 1450, the Priory Choir has welcomed thousands of singers through its ranks. Initially comprising solely of boys and men, the choir has embraced mixed voices in more recent years.
The current choir, joined by any former choristers wishing to participate, will sing a service of Choral Evensong at 4 pm, followed by a drinks reception in the Priory Rooms.
This reunion marks the launch of the Priory’s newly-formed “Old Chorister Association,” designed to help former singers maintain connections with each other and stay updated on the current activities of the Priory Choir. If you are a former chorister or know someone who was, the Priory Choir wants to hear from you.
The present choir remains active and will be performing a service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London this year.
Boys and girls aged 8 and above are invited to apply for a place. New singers are being recruited for September 2025 and beyond and Paul Dewhurst, Director of Music, would be delighted to discuss the possibility of becoming a chorister in the future. He can be contacted at bridlingtonpriorymusic@gmail.com or 07747 627269.
