Following the very sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, there will be an historic Royal Proclamation reading in Bridlington on Sunday 11 September at the Bridlington War Memorial Gardens, situated on Wellington Road, at 4.pm.
Prince Charles automatically became King Charles following the death of his mother, Her Majesty The Queen, but the Proclamation is a constitutional formality to recognise his sovereignty.

The Mayor of Bridlington, Cllr Mike Heslop-Mullens, said: “The Accession Council in London (today – September 10) will be followed by an official Principal Proclamation of the accession of King Charles III, which will be read (today) at 11.am. The historic ceremony will be held at the State Apartments of St James’s Palace and be televised.
Further Proclamations of the accession of the new monarch will then be heard in Hull and Beverley then subsequently in Bridlington on Sunday 11 September.
“It will be a great privilege and an honour to lead Bridlington in the proclamation of the accession of King Charles III on Sunday.”

Anyone who wishes to witness this historical moment is asked to gather at the War Memorial Gardens on Wellington Road from 3.45pm with the proclamation of accession being read out at 4.00pm
Bridlington Town Council would encourage as many residents as possible to attend and join in on this momentous occasion.
