The Bridlington Coastguard rescue team along with their colleagues from Filey are also on the scene and both services have assisted helping several people out of danger.

Jordan Grebby, Station Officer for HM Coastguard, said: ‘Bridlington Coastguard were called shortly after 12pm today along with Filey Coastguard and Flamborough RNLI to reports of 20 persons cut off at West Scar, Flamborough.

“A rescue operation took place by all services on scene and successfully recovered all persons to safety.

“These individuals are very lucky to come away without requiring medical treatment, it comes as a timely reminder that should you be walking the coast check the tide times and have a way of calling in the event of an emergency.

“If you see someone in difficulty at the coast dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.”
