A Bridlington couple have spoken of their shock after they claim one of their dogs was deliberately kicked in the head by a passer-by.

Kay Harrison, who along with her husband David, were on one of their regular walks in the woodland area of Sewerby Park when the alleged incident occurred.
“We took our two dogs for a walk in Sewerby Park yesterday (Sunday 17 September). Pippa, our little Spaniel was kicked on the head by the man of a couple walking in the other direction on the Woodland Walk.” explained Kay who is the volunteer treasurer of Bridlington and District RSPCA.

“Both our dogs were on leads and were walking at our sides as always when we meet people walking we don’t know as a matter of courtesy.
“As these people (a man and a woman) drew level, the man stuck his foot out and kicked Pippa on the side of the head.” explained Kay.
“I think they would have just carried on walking if I hadn’t said ‘you’ve just kicked my dog on her head’…we were both so shocked.
“He then started shouting that he hated dogs and we should have kept the dog away from him.

“We both remonstrated with him and they both started shouting about how much they hated dogs and they were disgusting, filthy creatures.
“When my husband shouted back the man threatened to kick him as well.
Mr and Mrs Harrison were so shocked they went to the nearest paybox to alert Sewerby Park staff. They have also reported the incident to the RSPCA and police.
Kay describes the man as follows:
“The man was very tall, over 6 feet, and very thin. He had thick grey hair and I would age them both in their early 70’s. On the day he was wearing grey knee length shorts and a royal blue top.
“I want these people found and dealt with and I would suggest that anyone taking their dogs for a walk in Sewerby Park keep them on a lead and avoid these people if they see them.
“I would fear for the safety of any dog who was off the lead and ran up to them. They obviously have what can only be described as a pathological hatred of dogs.” added Kay.
Anyone who may have witnessed any of the events at Sewerby is asked to contact police on 101 quoting
