A Bridlington twinning group is celebrating over 30 years of friendship with their counterparts in France and are appealing for more host families.
The Bridlington/Millau Twinning Association has been going strong for over three decades and the group is hoping more local residents will join in by hosting French visitors in April 2024.

Chris Myers, Chairman of the Association explains. “At the start, we knew that involving the young people of our town was the way forward, so in October 1991, a coach full of pupils and a coach full of adults embarked on the first trip to a far away French town unknown by everyone.
“We knew there was so much potential in home stays rather than just taking a holiday. Although a scary prospect at the start, being involved in the daily routine of a family offered such an insight into a mutual understanding of each other’s culture and the way we live our lives.”

Now thirty plus years later, the Bridlington Twinning Association are preparing to host a group from Millau from Saturday 6th April to Saturday 13th April 2024 and would like to invite anyone from Bridlington and the surrounding villages to take part in the week’s events by hosting visitors from the twin town.
Chris continued,“Our 30th anniversary celebrations were cancelled because of COVID and this is the first visit since the end of the pandemic. Some of our visitors are returning to Bridlington to meet up again with friends they have made over the last three decades, but we will have some who have never been to Bridlington before and want to spend the week in an English home, for the first time.
“As there will be singles, couples and families visiting, we need a wide range of accommodation possibilities. It truly is a mutually enriching experience which could even be the start of a long term friendship with your guest.”
