Missing Labrador Bella Found Safe After Week-Long Search
A much-loved black Labrador named Bella, who went missing after being spooked by fireworks on Bonfire Night (5th November), was found on Fraisthorpe Beach following an extensive search by her owners and the local community yesterday (11 November).
An update by owner Richard issued on 12th November 2025 confirmed that Bella still remains under veterinary care.
She underwent an X-ray which revealed a small fracture in her pelvis. Vets are optimistic that it will heal naturally with rest, though a second opinion from an orthopaedic specialist is being sought.
Richard added: “We visited her this afternoon and she wagged her tail and tried to get up. She was very pleased to see us. She’s spending another night in hospital and all IV medications are continuing.”
In response to numerous offers of help, Bella’s family addressed questions about a possible GoFundMe page to assist with veterinary costs.
“We are insured but will not know the total bill until she is better and home,” Richard explained.
“At this time, we do not know if we will need it. Should we decide to do one, we will have a nominated person in control of it and will post details on this page at a later date. If we went ahead, we would definitely like to use some of the money to support the charities that have helped us over the past week.”
The family has thanked everyone who shared posts, joined searches, or offered words of encouragement during the ordeal.
“We would like to thank you all for your continued support and love for Bella,” said Richard. “She is a very special girl.”
