Dogs and their owners will be enjoying the full freedom of all local beaches from Tuesday 1st October as the ERYC ban is lifted for the winter season.

The restrictions are lifted each year on 1st October, with dogs and their owners allowed back on all of the beach areas in the East Riding.

Over the last few years, dozens of dog walkers have got together with their four legged friends to celebrate the end of the dog ban and enjoy what has locally become known as ‘doggy beach freedom day’.

Richie’s Cafe Bar on the South Promenade in Bridlington is the venue for the unique canine event, and owner of the popular cafe Richard Preston provides free sausages for each dog that attends the event.

The event runs from 10-11.30am and all dog owners are more than welcome to join in the fun.

As a special promotion, the cafe bar is offering a hot drink and bacon roll for only £2.95 with a donation going to the Wish Upon a Star charity.

The restricted areas that are now avaible for dog walking included Bridlington North Beach between the northern end of North Marine Promenade and the north-eastern face of the North Pier and Bridlington South Beach between the southern face of the South Pier and the eastern face of Princess Mary Promenade Sea Wall.
