For the second time in as many days, Flamborough RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew launched to an emergency after a kayaker got into difficulty when their craft began taking on water and sank off the coast on Saturday evening (4. July).

HM Coastguard requested the launch at 6.17pm following reports of the incident.
The RNLI’s Forever Yibba (B-959) launched from South Landing at 6.25pm and made best speed to the scene.
On arrival, the volunteer crew located the casualty, recovered both the kayaker and the partially submerged kayak, and brought them safely ashore at North Landing.

The lifeboat returned to South Landing at 7.24pm, where the volunteer lifeboat and shore crew cleaned and refuelled both the boat and launching tractor before making them ready for service once again.
The rescue marked the second callout in just two days for Forever Yibba, which had only recently gone back on station after its previous launch. Once again, Flamborough’s volunteer crew responded swiftly to support HM Coastguard, ensuring the casualty was brought safely back to shore.
