A string of former guest houses, hotels and care homes in Bridlington have been sold, with property experts saying demand for seaside investment opportunities remains strong.

Eleven properties in the town, along with three in Scarborough, have been sold by Watling Real Estate on behalf of administrators Grant Thornton.
The Bridlington portfolio includes well-known former businesses such as the Spinnaker Hotel on Pembroke Terrace, Brentwood House Hotel on Princess Street, Mont Millais on Trinity Road, Park View Hotel on Tennyson Avenue and Victoria House on Victoria Road. Former guest houses Vernon Villa, Acomb House, Blantyre Guest House and Ashford House have also changed hands, along with two former Pentrich House properties on Vernon Road.

The properties were marketed as refurbishment and redevelopment opportunities, with many offering manager’s accommodation and the potential to return to residential or hospitality use.
Alex Sweetman, director at Watling Real Estate’s Leeds office, said investor confidence in the Yorkshire coast remained high.

“We had interest from both landlords and developers who were attracted by the opportunities offered by a positive property market in the Yorkshire region, where 4.5 per cent annual house price growth was reported in 2025,” he said.
“They recognised the potential for refurbishment and renovation leading to rental uplift and asset management opportunities.”

Three Scarborough properties were also included in the sale – the former Tennyson Arms public house, the former St Helens Care Home and the Hotel Columbus.
Although the portfolio was sold for an undisclosed sum, the sales are expected to pave the way for investment in a number of long-vacant buildings, bringing prominent Bridlington properties back into use and helping to preserve the town’s traditional seaside streetscape.
