Bridlington Mayor Cllr Liam Dealtry has expressed his disgust at scammers who have set up a fake email mail account in his name.
The gmail account is circulating the the area asking recipients for money or vouchers to be sent.
“I am disgusted – someone has stooped so low as to defraud the Mayoral Charities – please do not respond to this account as it is fake.” Said Cllr Dealtry.
A spokeswoman from Bridlington Town Council said: “It has been brought to our attention that somebody has set up a fake gmail account claiming to be Councillor Liam Dealtry and is sending out requests for money or vouchers from it.”
“This is a FAKE account please DO NOT respond.” they added.
