A community centre that has been closed for several months has now become the focus of the community once again and is proving to be a huge hit with local residents.
The New Pasture Lane Community Centre has been revived by Kate Batten and Abigail Sturdy and they have more exciting plans in the pipeline for the centre.

Funding on behalf of East Yorkshire Council’s “Do It for East Yorkshire Community Grant” has allowed the centre to provide a warm inviting place to New Pasture Lane residents and other people in the local surrounding area of the centre.
This project provides a free hot meal of two courses each Saturday until March 25th.

Said Kate: “It is advisable to call the centre to pre-book the free lunch on a Saturday, due to us getting booked up quite quickly.
We do also deliver to some residents on the estate who are housebound.
“After this project has finished we will be looking into other areas of funding to keep this kind of project going and feeding those who are suffering from the cost of living crisis.

“We will also be working in partnership with them to host some amazing future events, Christmas markets and even a summer fair on the New Pasture Lane School field if permissions are granted by the ERYC.” added Kate.
The centre has also held several events, including a hugely successful table top sale, mum and baby group, as well as several warm space sessions. There is also a new donation pantry.
Collaboration with Bridlington Round Table
The centre is also delighted to announce and share the news of an ongoing collaboration with Bridlington Round Table (BRT).

“The members came to our rescue when we reached out to them after finding out we needed many updates to the community centre. They generously donated over £6,000 to update the facilities within the community centre. This includes a brand new boiler, a new cooker, a fridge freezer, a dishwasher, an updated electric shutter system and a defibrillator that will be positioned on the outside wall of the building for local residents to use in an emergency.” explained centre manager Kate Batten.
A new grit bin has also been provided for the use by the centre and nearby residents after the recent cold snap.

Sam Berridge from BRT added: “We are delighted to have been of help to the community centre and look forward to working with them in the future. We would like to thank Danny Kitchen from ABR Heating and KRP Carpets for their help and generosity with this project.”
