It was a day to make memories for a Bridlington family as they enjoyed a boat trip around the Bay of Bridlington.
Lucky passengers on board the Pirate Boat – The Jolly Roger – had a voyage to remember yesterday afternoon – (4th May).
James Oates and his family, who live in Bridlington, decided to take a trip from the harbour on the Pirate Boat and spotted around half-a-dozen bottle-nosed dolphins frolicking in the sea.

And judging by the screams of delight from his children it certainly was a day to remember.
Where to see dolphins
To get close up to see these magnificent sea creatures, there are several boats that run regular trips from Bridlington Harbour.
They include the Yorkshire Belle and the Pirate Ship
Both are now doing regular trips around the Bay of Bridlington and beyond (weather dependent).

It’s worth noting that there is a better chance of seeing dolphins from the shore when the sea is calmer, plus another indication is seeing several seagulls circling above the pod.
Finally, if scanning the seas from the cliff tops, please be aware of your surroundings and keep a safe distance from the edge.
Please note that it’s all down to being in the right place and the right time to see dolphins.
Thanks to James Oates for the video which is now playing on the Bridlington Echo Facebook page.
