This Christmas season, the Bridlington and Driffield Branch of the RSPCA is inviting the community to experience an enchanting winter wonderland at their charity shop on Prospect Street.
Overflowing with festive cheer, the shop’s eye-catching window display has become a local sensation, drawing visitors in with its beautifully created characters
At the centre of this captivating Christmas scene are over 100 exquisitely knitted mice, each one unique in design and character.
These charming little figures are the work of dedicated volunteer Marlene Everingham, who has spent an impressive two years crafting the delightful display. A volunteer for over 25 years, Marlene’s commitment to animal welfare is second to none, with her hours of service making her miniature creations.
The festive window depicts a bustling winter scene filled with mouse activity and seasonal fun.

Visitors can see carol singing mice donning little scarves and hats, spreading holiday cheer
Nearby, mice are pulled along on sledges, embodying the joy of winter play. Adding to the whimsical tableau is a mini market, complete with pint-sized stalls offering vibrant knitted fruits and vegetables, bringing the spirit of a bustling holiday market to life—all populated by Marlene’s cute knitted mice!
Since the window was unveiled, it has captured the attention of hundreds of passersby, prompting a flood of compliments from the community.
Children gaze wide-eyed, trying to count all the mice, while adults pause to take photos and marvel at the intricate details of the festive display. “We’ve had loads of lovely comments about them,” said a staff member at the charity shop. “It’s heartwarming to see families come together, sharing in the joy of this creative display.”
The window not only serves as a decorative piece but also plays a helps the charity’s mission—raising funds to help animals in need. Each year, the RSPCA relies on donations and the sales from their charity shop to support their vital work. With every item purchased or donation made, locals contribute to the welfare of animals that need care and shelter.
Marlene’s dedication and creativity have not only brightened the charity shop but also created a super decorative scene for everyone who stops to appreciate the magical scene.
Thanks to the creativity of Marlene and the volunteers at the RSPCA, the festive spirit has spread right into the fabric of Bridlington.
