High seas have battered Bridlington and the East Yorkshire coast again, sending waves crashing into the harbour and along the seafront during the busy half-term week.
At Bridlington Harbour, huge swells driven by gale-force winds slammed into both piers, throwing spray high into the air and forcing pedestrians to keep their distance. The North Pier and South Pier were repeatedly struck as waves rolled in from the North Sea, creating dangerous and dramatic conditions.
Along the Bridlington Esplanade, waves surged over the sea walls and flooded sections of the promenade, leaving debris scattered across walkways and forcing some visitors to retreat.
It has not been a good week for tourists, with many families visiting during school half-term holidays hoping for fresh air and seaside walks. Instead, strong winds, heavy spray and grey skies dominated.
The Coastguard have urged people to stay clear of sea defences and remain cautious on beaches and along cliff paths.
