Lewis Dennison showed nerves of steel to convert a 90th minute penalty to keep Bridlington Town in the Northern Premier League East Division after a nail biting finale to the season.

Dunston took the lead with half an hour gone after Michael Fowler slotting the ball past James Hitchcock – one-on-one.

Brid got a lifeline on the stroke of half time with a cracker of a goal.
Danny Earl’s sensational lob from 25 yards out took both teams into the break on level terms.

It was that man again as Earl’s curled effort from the edge of the penalty area, on his weaker left foot, gave the hosts the lead after 57 minutes.

The visitor’s struck again, and again it was Fowler, slotting home on 83 minutes
With the game on a knife-edge and a drop to the division below looming it was looking like a day to forget for the home side.

Other results were going against Town and things were looking bleak – especially when Brid were awarded a penalty, only for it to be overruled by the linesman.

However, on the 90th minute, yet another penalty was awarded to Brid.
This time, they were allowed to take it and up stepped Lewis Dennison, who calmly slotted it into the top-right corner to secure the Seasiders’ place in the division next season.
