Marton Road Pharmacy welcomed hundreds of visitors to its Innovation Day as it officially unveiled its new state-of-the-art dispensing robot and celebrated a major step forward for community healthcare in Bridlington.

The event was officially opened by Jaya Authunuri, alongside Bridlington and The Wolds MP Charlie Dewhirst and Prince Alexander von Lichtenstein, who joined pharmacy staff, healthcare partners and members of the public to mark the occasion.

Guests were given the opportunity to see the cutting-edge dispensing robot in action, demonstrating how the technology will improve the accuracy and speed of prescription dispensing while allowing pharmacy staff to spend more time providing face-to-face care and advice to patients.

A highlight of the day was the announcement of the winning name for the pharmacy’s newest team member. Following a community competition and public vote, the robot was officially named Robyn – a name nominated at de by Charlie Rudd, with the winning entrant receiving a family prize of a luxury hamper.

Children and families were among those attending the event, enjoying the opportunity to meet Robyn and learn how modern technology is helping transform healthcare in Bridlington.
Visitors also explored a range of the latest pharmacy innovations through live demonstrations and displays, showcasing how digital technology is improving patient services and making healthcare more efficient.

Speaking during the event, Jaya from Marton Road Pharmacy said he was delighted by the community’s enthusiastic response.

Jaya added that Robyn would play an important role in supporting the pharmacy team by streamlining the dispensing process, improving efficiency and enabling pharmacists to dedicate more time to helping patients with their healthcare needs.
