A lively calendar of family-friendly events is set to transform Sewerby Hall and Gardens this May, as the venue unveils its vibrant “May Madness” programme running from 23–31 May.

The festivities begin earlier in the month with a Medieval Re-enactment on 16–17 May, where visitors can step back in time and experience life in the Middle Ages through costumed performers and interactive displays.
From 23 May, the main “May Madness” celebration kicks off, featuring a packed schedule of themed activities. Among the highlights is the Dinosaur Safari running throughout 23–31 May, promising an adventurous exploration experience for younger visitors.

On 25 May, crowds can enjoy a theatrical treat with “The Great Flying Caper,” part of the Rusticus adventure series, blending comedy and storytelling in an outdoor setting. The following day, 26 May, continues the adventure theme with “Search for the Golden Fleece,” another interactive performance designed to engage families.
Creative activities take centre stage on 27 May, with a Magic Show and Face Paintingevent, offering entertainment and hands-on fun for children.

The programme continues on 28 May with “Knights of the Round Table,” a Rusticus theatre production bringing legendary tales to life. Animal lovers can look forward to 29 May, which features a Zoo Activity: Meet the Hoof Stock, giving visitors a chance to get closer to some of the resident animals. Also on29 May, the “Things That Fly” Wildcasts session will explore birds and flying creatures in an engaging, educational format.
Organisers are encouraging visitors to book in advance, with discounts of up to 15% available online. With a mix of history, theatre, wildlife, and hands-on entertainment, the May programme aims to offer something for all ages at one of East Yorkshire’s most popular attractions.
