Nikita Roberts, who is the owner of Sissy & One, tweeted Theo about her business on the High Street in OldTown during ‘Small Business Sunday’ and was one of six weekly winners to gain a retweet by Theo to his near half a million Twitter followers. The weekly initiative, set up by Theo in 2010, now has over 3,000 #SBS winners and supports small businesses in the UK.

Business and retail entrepreneur and self-confessed shopkeeper, Theo re-tweeted Nikita’s message to his almost 500,000 followers and as a result, Sissy & One has received a higher business profile, more followers and extra orders.

Having found initial success with her ETSY online shop, Nikita, 28, creates unique jewellery and crafts and among her clientele are Amy Winehouse’s mother, actor Daniella Westbrook and Lauren Harries of Big Brother fame.

“I was born in Bridlington and love Old Town and the history of the place. The shop was once a forge and the rent in 1857 was £6 a year. I was here on work experience but never dreamt I would have a business here. The moment I walked into the place, I knew this was right for me. I had visualised myself doing this and here I am!”

Nikita has also created a ‘talking table’ where people with mental health issues can join in discussions to help with any issues they are suffering with.
