After reports of a serious police incident in Bridlington, leading to a road closure near Bempton during the afternoon of Thursday 19 January, a police statement has been sent to the Echo.
Police had attempted to stop a white VW Golf estate in Bridlington in the early afternoon, a pursuit was initiated, but aborted shortly afterwards due to public safety concerns.
Here is the full police statement:
“Police attempted to stop a vehicle in the Bridlington area at about 1.44pm (Thursday 19th January) as it was believed to be being driven by a suspect linked to an ongoing investigation.
“The vehicle, a white VW Golf R Estate, failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated, but was aborted shortly afterwards in the interests of public safety.
“The vehicle was later found abandoned on the B1229 near Buckton.
“An extensive search was made but the suspect was not located.”
