A charity walk to Flamborough Lighthouse has raised an incredible £3,526 for The Brain Tumour Charity in support of Bridlington woman Tracy Johnson.
Organised by Tracy’s sister-in-law, Sarah Tudor, the fundraising event took place on Sunday, October 25, attracting a fantastic turnout despite challenging conditions and strong winds.
The walk began outside Richies Cafe-Bar on Princess Mary Promenade, with friends, family members and local residents coming together to show their love and support for Tracy.
The original fundraising target was smashed within a week of the appeal being launched, with donations continuing to pour in from across the community.
Tracy underwent major surgery in July after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. She had a craniotomy to remove as much of the tumour as possible and is now awaiting further treatment, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
She is a devoted mum to four children, Darcy, Betsy, Bobby and George, as well as a much-loved wife, daughter, sister and friend.
Sarah organised the walk to do something meaningful to support Tracy and her family through what will be a long and challenging journey.
Following the event, the family shared a heartfelt message thanking everyone who took part, cheered the walkers on or donated from afar.
They said: “We never expected that many people to join us and the wind!!! To see that many people walking together was so lovely.”
They added that seeing the community unite to show Tracey so much love and support had been completely overwhelming.
Local businesses also backed the appeal, including Harbourside Flavours and Uppercutz Hair Salon, which hosted collection boxes.
Angela Bath, The Telegraph, Pineapple Joes, The Dog Walker Bridlington, The Body Refinery, Craig and Sadie Chapman, Tiffin & Co, Simon’s Taxis, Whiteoak Mortgages Bridlington and East Riding Leisure were also thanked for their support.
With further donations expected, the family said they would update the total before closing their JustGiving page.
