East Riding Crematorium, based at Octon, near Bridlington has two open events coming up over the next two weekends.
Jonathan Spalding, who is the Crematorium Managet, explained:

“This Sunday – 16th June – is Fathers Day, a day which sees many visitors to the memorial gardens and the Book of Remembrance room.
“We have our memory tree in place with tags ready for you to leave a message on. The room is open all over the weekend, so please feel free to visit at your convenience.

“On 22nd June our doors will be open to welcome you for our annual summer open day. Between 10am and 2pm we will give guided tours and happily chat over a complimentary cuppa about anything you want. We will be raising money for charity too – so please come along and support us!
“The memorial gardens will be a blaze of colour for everyone to enjoy and visitors are welcome to walk around the stunning grounds.”

All areas of the crematorium will be open and accessible for guided tours.
Added Jonathan: “As well as the open day, this year we will be fundraising for the Little Princess Trust.
“This is a charity we have worked with previously who make hair pieces and wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer.
“Charlotte – our office supervisor – is looking for sponsorship as she will be having her long hair cut off and donating it to the trust and raising much-needed funds for this brilliant charity.”

Added Jonathan: “We look forward to seeing visitors during the day and staff will be on hand to answer any questions anyone may have and hopefully dispel some myths around the cremation process.”
