Areas around Danes Dyke and South Landing on the Flamborough headland have been particularly affected, with sections of cliff face becoming unstable due to water saturation and erosion.

Local authorities say the recent wet weather and then dry spell has significantly increased the risk of sudden collapses along parts of the coastline.

Officials are urging residents and visitors to take extra care, especially when walking along beaches or coastal paths beneath cliffs.

Standing directly below cliff edges is strongly discouraged, as falling debris can occur without warning.

A spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire Council said safety remains the top priority, highlighting that even dry and calm conditions do not eliminate the danger after prolonged wet weather. Warning signs are in place in several high-risk areas, and the public is advised to follow all guidance.

The coastline is popular with walkers and tourists, however a uthorities are continuing to monitor conditions closely and are asking people to remain vigilant when visiting exposed coastal locations.
