A group of ‘moustached’ Bridlington men have raised thousands of pounds for a mental health charity.
On November 1st, twenty-eight friends shaved off their facial hair and began a month long fundraising campaign for the Movember charity.

This was the fourth year that MoTeamBridBoro had participated in the annual event and many of the group began to run, walk, bike, hike, row and grow back their facial hair – all in the name of men’s health.
Spokesman Ryan Wilson explained: “Throughout the year we hosted a 6-a-side football tournament at Bridlington CYP, sponsored by Lighthouse Fisheries Flamborough, a pool night at G.O.A.T bar and a darts night at Victoria Club Flamborough, which was sponsored by Downtown Barbers. A massive thanks to the above businesses for their hospitality.

“The physical challenges the lads set themselves were tough and demanding but most certainly inspiring. Some ran everyday, some ran half marathons, others ran 60km across the month, others every week, and even a sensational effort saw 60km completed in one day! We saw cycling challenges, 10km each day, 60km in a matter of days and even 100 miles in one go and others even completed some of the UK’s toughest peaks taking on Yorkshire Three Peaks, Mount Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike.
“Our physical efforts were more than rewarded as we raised an incredible £12,705.00 for Movember, the money we helped raise will go towards supporting the funding of projects and groundbreaking research for men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancer.

“A massive well done to all the team, but our biggest thank you is for our greatest contributors, the donators and motivators who have shown their generosity, kindness and support to the lads over the last 4 years. Our time as a team together has seen us consistently finish in the top 10 for money raised by a sports-based club in the UK, as well as over £30,000.00 raised for Movember in total, but none of this is possible without your support.” added Ryan.
The group have planned plenty of exciting ideas for next years campaigning thanked all who gave their support and donated.
