Hundreds of bright yellow and blue ducks floated their way down the Gypsey Race on Easter Sunday as crowds gathered for the town’s much-loved annual “quacky races.”

The event, organised by Bridlington Club for Young People (CYP) saw visitors line the banks of the stream along Gypsey Road, where both children and adults took part in the ‘Quacky Races.’
Staff and volunteers from the club sold the plastic ducks ahead of the races, with participants entering their chosen duck into either the children’s or adult competition. Racing got underway at 1pm, as hundreds of ducks were released into the water, drawing cheers and laughter from spectators.

Event organiser and CYP vice chairman Dean Hoggard said he had hoped for a strong turnout—and the community did not disappoint.
Alongside the races, the club hosted a lively fun day. A bounce park provided by Jolly Jumpers proved popular with younger visitors, while others enjoyed food and drink available on site. A football tournament took place on the nearby pitches, and a range of stalls and attractions were set up outside the club hall, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the afternoon.
Volunteers from Bridington RNLI were also on hand in the stream itself, wading behind the ducks to keep them moving whenever they became caught in reeds along the course.
Winners in the adult category received cash prizes, while children were awarded Easter treats.
All proceeds from the day will be reinvested into the club.
