Bridlington Rovers 5 v Langtoft 1
An excellent game between two very well organised teams in the first round of the H.E. Dean Cup saw half a dozen goals and some classy football.
From the kick-off Rovers started the quicker and within the first ten minutes were two up with a couple of quick goals.

The first came from some neat play in the middle which set off Tom Sharp on the right to cross in for Callum Cheetham who made no mistake putting the ball in the back of the net.
The second followed almost immediately and came from a 30-yard left-footed cracker from Josh Pilmoor leaving the Langtoft keeper no chance.

With Langtoft gaining some composure the game then opened up with both teams having good chances and both of the ‘keepers having to come into play and pull off numerous saves.

Towards the end of the first half Sam Johnson found space after a neat flick on by Jay Wallace and neatly scored in the bottom corner,
Langtoft never let their heads drop and pushed themselves back into the game. The resulting pressure was deservedly rewarded with a goal just before the half time whistle.

The second half started in similar style to the first, with Rovers putting pressure on from the start. Within 15 minutes Rovers had their fourth after Nick Allanach’s shot found the back of net.

Rovers continued to pile on the pressure with substitute Joel Rollinson coming on to add to the Rovers firepower. This move quickly paid off within a few minutes with Rollinson calmly slottiing home one of his trademark goals.

All credit to Langtoft who kept battling for a second goal and never gave up on chances
Rovers Manager Chris Wray said: “We went into the game well organised and our performance matched the result. From the quick start we looked comfortable all game and there was a spell in the match when it was the best football I have seen from us all year, Well done to all the lads, I am so proud – as the manager – to watch such a cracking performance.’
“Well done also to Langtoft who came up against a well drilled and organised Rovers team but didn’t give up and battled hard right till the end.”
Man of the match Nick Allanach (Rovers).
