A mini-whirlwind has been captured on camera over Filey Bay in North Yorkshire on the evening Tuesday 15 July.
According to Wikipedia …a whirlwind is a phenomenon in which a vortex of wind (a vertically oriented rotating column of air) forms due to instabilities and turbulence created by heating and flow (current) gradients. Whirlwinds can vary in size and last from a couple minutes to a couple hours.
The rare image was captured on camera by local resident Sammy Johnson- Roberts who lives at Reighton, just to the south of Filey in North Yorkshire.
