A spokesperson for Bridlington Town Council explained: “For this year’s Christmas lights we want your help to celebrate what makes Bridlington special.

“We’re inviting local people to send us your drawings of what you love about Bridlington and what you love about Christmas!

“Selected designs will be projected onto buildings in the town centre during the Christmas Lights Switch-On which will be held on 29 November and throughout the festive season.”

Find out how to take part here: https://bridlington.gov.uk/LightUpBrid

Bridlington Town Council have released these details on how to take part.

Send us your drawings of what you love about Bridlington and we will turn some of them into special light projections for the Christmas lights switch-on event on Saturday 29 November and show them over the festive period. Help us to Light Up Brid!

Not sure where to start?
You could think about things like:

  • The heritage and history of the town – the harbour, the old town, people
  • The wildlife – birds, sealife, plants
  • The coastline and beach
  • And not forgetting Christmas of course!

If you need some drawing tips:

The Big Draw on YouTube have some videos about how to draw some Christmas animals and winter landscapes

BBC Bitesize has some ideas about how to do observational drawing of birds

You can also come along to a FREE drawing workshop at the Town Council offices on Saturday 27 September
10am-12 noon with artist Julie Oxenforth – book a place via eventbrite
1-3pm with artist Nic Draper – book a place via eventbrite

All materials will be provided.

You must book a place via eventbrite or call us on 01262 409006, email project@bridlington.gov.uk

How to submit your artwork
All artwork must be drawn on our special submission sheet, which you can download here (this is an A4 version but you can enlarge it to A3)
You can also pick up A4 and A3 sizes from the Town Council Offices.

You can send your artwork to Bridlington Town Council, 2A Marshall Avenue, Bridlington YO15 2DS.

You can post it or drop it into the office, which is open Monday to Friday 9am-2.30pm.

Or you can send a scan or a clear photograph of it to project@bridlington.gov.uk

Your artwork must reach us by 12 noon on Monday 29 September 2025

Useful information

  • Please use coloured pens or pencils to draw your image – we won’t be able to use any artwork that is drawn in black and white.
  • You can submit bold and simple line drawings or those with more detail.
  • You must supply your name and contact details on your submission. We cannot consider any entries that do not have this information on.
  • Your artwork must reach us by the deadline. Artwork received after this date will not be considered.
