Purr-fect Pals Rescue, a cat charity based in Bridlington, is urgently seeking funds for a life-saving operation for a nearly six-week-old kitten. The rescue group are a self-funded and independent cat rescue organisation located in Bridlington.
Though Purr-fect Pals Rescue which operates in Bridlington, Zorro, the kitten’s mother, was a stray from Hull. Max, one of Zorro’s kittens, is not even six weeks old and has been on antibiotics for the past week. He has been visiting the vet frequently for oxygen treatment due to abnormal breathing.
An X-ray revealed that he suffers from a condition known as peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia.
This serious condition occurs when there is a hole in the diaphragm, which separates the abdomen from the chest, allowing abdominal contents to move into the sac surrounding the heart. As a result, his intestines and other organs are pressing against his heart and lungs. This type of hernia is quite rare and congenital, meaning he was born with it. Surgery is essential to repair the hole and ensure that his organs are in their proper places.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Without this operation, Max will not survive. However, the cost of the surgery is nearly £4,000 at a specialist veterinary clinic, a sum that would severely deplete our resources. We also have other cats and kittens in our care who are in need of assistance.
“Max is a resilient little kitten who deserves a chance at life, but we cannot proceed without your support. Your help is crucial in giving him the opportunity he needs. Thank you. “
