Local photographer Dom Taylor is a well-known face around the sports pitches of Bridlington, capturing sporting action and also turning his lens the funny side of sport.
Dom, who is the volunteer club photographer for Bridlington Town AFC, has a great eye for the unexpected and has compiled a fantastic portfolio of amusing and sometimes poignant images over the years.
So when former Bridlington resident Darren Norton, who now lives in Hull produced a local football magazine – Snapshots – Dom’s pictures were amongst the first to be published.
Dom’s spread of photographs depict the normally unnoticed moments that happen in grass-roots sports.
Pictures range from a player putting up a football net whilst precariously balanced on the shoulders of a team-mate, a goal keeper enveloped in a cloud of smoke as he watches the action at the other end of the pitch and a lovely image of a coach and a junior player sheltering under huge umbrellas during heavy rain.
Said Dom: “I really enjoy photographing sport, especially football, but when there is a quiet moment I look around and try to capture the quirky and unusual scenes that will never be recorded on camera again. Now I have built up a collection of pictures it is great to see that moment captured and frozen in time forever.”
