Bridlington Town 2 v 5 Ossett United
Bridlington town suffered a 5-2 defeat at home to bottom of the table visitors Ossett United on Tuesday night.

Looking to build on Saturday’s away victory against Sherwood Colliery and hoping to climb the NPL East table, the home side started out brightly.
Pete Davidson had an early chance, but his shot fired well over the crossbar…and that’s about as good as it got for the home side who looked second best to the visitors.

Prior to this match Ossett had only scored 9 goals in 15 games and opened the scoring through a scramble in the 18-yard box.
The ball fell to Zottos who beat the oncoming Malkowski, slotting the ball calmly into the bottom corner.

In a similar fashion, the Ossett side doubled their lead moments later, as a lack of communication in the Bridlington defence saw Joe Crosby fire the second goal past a stricken Malkowski.
Bridlington began to counter and were looking to pull a goal back. With pressure from the Seasiders, this led to a corner, but the shot from Leverett went wide.
Just as Bridlington were beginning to get a slight foothold in the game a quick attack from Ossett saw Church make it three.

Disaster struck for Town as in the last minute of the half, the ever dangerous Zottos made it four to add to the home sides woes.
At half time Denny Ingram had some strong words for his side and rang the changes.
Danny Earl made a welcome return to replace Nathan Dyer after a recent hamstring injury and Marshall Knock replaced Pete Davidson.

The seasiders started in similar fashion to the first half, reward came from Tom Allan in the 58th minute when he pulled a goal back.
A few moments later Allan had another great chance, but his shot scraped the crossbar.
Then whilst the Seasiders were looking at pushing on it was that man Zottos yet again, netting his hat-trick from a superb Crossfield pass from Church.

Concerns over Danny Earl led to a substitution late in the game as Ben Lewis replaced, and a consolation as the former Ossett man Alex Peterson pulled a late goal back.
With the game lost Denny Ingram had this to say:
“Nothing changed from Saturday, we need to work out why this happened, its poles apart, it should be way, way better than what it was.
“Maybe a bit of heart, and a bit of passion and desire is what’s needed.”
