A coffee shop chain with more than 2,000 outlets across the UK is set to pull the shutters down on the Bridlington branch.
Costa Coffee is set to close the Bridlington King Street branch in the early March with the loss of around eight full and part time jobs.
A sign on the door of the shop seen this morning (19th February, 2025) reads:
‘CLOSING DOWN
All STAFF HAVE BEEN GIVEN 10 DAYS NOTICE PLEASE BE AS KIND TO US AS POSSIBLE
8 MEMBERS OF STAFF ARE GOING TO BE OUT OF WORK!
LAST DAY OF TRADE WILL BE SUNDAY 2ND MARCH 2025’
The Bridlington Echo have contacted Costa Coffee head office for comment, but we are still awaiting a reply.
A Costa Coffee Spokesperson said: “We can confirm that our franchise-owned and operated Costa Coffee store on King Street, Bridlington, will close its doors for trade on Sunday 2nd March 2025. All team members have been offered re-deployment opportunities.”
It comes as another blow for Bridlington town centre with the announcement of the closure of NatWest bank, also based on King Street, earlier this year.
Many businesses – especially shops, pubs and restaurants – have been facing difficulty in recent years with rising prices like rent, national insurance increases and energy costs
