An intrepid cycling duo have completed 170 mile Morecambe to Bridlington route… in just one day.

Local cycling enthusiasts Graham Moore and Ben Dale undertook the mammoth Way of the Roses cycle challenge on Wednesday 22 June, commencing the challenge at 5am.
They had set the challenge after months of training and funds raised will go towards amateur sport groups and the Bridlington CYP.

Normally the coast to coast Way of the Roses route is undertaken in either two or three day stages, but Ben and Graham went for the difficult one day option.
The cycling dynamos were welcomed home to North Beach in Bridlington by a crowd of well wishers and family after completing the ride well ahead of schedule.

“We saw the most amazing scenery, climbed some insane climbs, some of which we never want to see again and powered though the hottest day that we could have chosen.” the pair explained.

“It was 100% worth it and we are so glad that we have done it. Thank-you to everyone for their support over this grand adventure.” the pair added.

The ride has kindly been supported by Bridlington Rovers Football club who are based at the CYP in Bridlington and Dave Brown who acted as back up on the day providing food and drink and lots of encouragement.
Graham has played football for Bridlington Rovers for the past 25 years, so he thought it was time to give something back to both the team he loves and the facilities they use.

Ben is well known in the area as a duty manager at East Riding Leisure and also a keen photographer.
