Two well-known Bridlington butchers are celebrating 90 years between them in the trade that has seen many changes over the decades.
Clive and Martin, from Crosiers Butcher on High Street in the historic Old Town, both started their careers at Pygotts butchers in Bridlington town centre where they got to know and served many thousands of customers.

“Things were a lot different then, with a cold marble slab used for the window displays – nowadays everything is presented with refrigeration displays both in the shop windows and inside.

“There was also a huge old cash register with push down handles used to open the cash drawer.

“Back then it was all cash sales with the occasional cheque payments from the trade customers – nowadays the bulk of payment is by credit or debit card.”

The High Street premises that is Crosiers has been a butchers shop for many decades and was one of several butchers trading on the historic street back in the day.
Today, Crosiers is the only butcher on High Street, a sign of the times with the proliferation of supermarkets in towns up and down the country.

“We give an old fashioned and friendly service and are so thankful for all the lovely customers who have supported us through the good times and also the bad times such as the pandemic.” concluded Clive.
