A Bridlington-based actress has landed the title character in a feature film to be premiered next year.
Rebecca Philipson will play Evie – the lead role in The Ghost Within – a film about a young woman who revisits her family home desperate to discover her sister Evie’s murderer 20 years before. The film is to be premiered in the UK ahead of the official release date in 2023.

Rebecca, who currently lives in the town, has been busy on a film set in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire for the last month, taking on the ghostly role in the terrifying horror film. She’s been working with a talented team of at least 35 cast and crew on a daily basis bringing The Ghost Within to life.
During the filming thete was a whole creative team behind the scenes -including sound editors, colourists and a even a whole orchestra based in Austria who helped to create the films soundtrack.

Rebecca spoke exclusively to the Bridlington Echo and told us about the day to day filming process and what working heavily with prosthetics was like…
“My day on set started 5 hours before the rest of the cast and crew due to my character Evie
needing full face and part body prosthetics.
“Face parts were built up and glued over my entire face by the renowned make-up artist BB whose works include; The Witcher, Doctor Who and Aquaman.

“BB then hand painted my entire face and body and it was an incredible experience seeing myself actually become a character before my very eyes. I did have some prosthetic experience from a previous acting job but nothing quite as full on as this.
“After a day on set it took an hour to remove everything before the process was repeated the next day.
“Once the prosthetics were removed they had to be thrown away, so I was having fresh prosthetics fitted every time I was on set.

“Although the prosthetics allowed me to eat and drink, they were extremely tight to my face.
“They did become more comfortable but it was a welcome release when they were removed at the end of my shoot days.

“My character – Evie – is more creature-like than human. I’m used to playing roles that are realistic, but this was on a completely different level and was challenging from the very first audition tape. Throughout the script there are high tension moments involving my character.
“When you see the film, all stunts are my own! I really can’t give too much away but I did have a fabulous experience on one particular night shoot working with the incredible crew and director Lawrence Fowler to create a vital moment within the film.”

At present Rebecca is auditioning for a TV project and some short films.
After graduating Rebecca was signed with her first acting agency and started working professionally. She has since had leading roles in several short films, stage plays and music videos for big UK bands, as well as bit parts on
TV.
They include; Channel 4’s Cucumber, directed by Russel T Davis, the Tonight Show Cold Caller special, directed by Colin Stone,Vevo Halloween Live TV stream to name just a few.
Rebecca also undertook a Amy Winehouse inspired modelling shoot with Bex Bowman Photography in
Manchester which kick started her modelling opportunities with fashion brands and influencers.
Talented Rebecca has also started writing her second novella – she published her first book, Life Lesson, earlier in the year – which is available to buy on Amazon and Kindle direct.

Rebecca attended Headlands School, completing her GSCE’S and A’ Levels in Dance, Drama, Performing Arts, Theatre Studies and Photography. She then went on to study a three-year Drama Degree in Manchester where she landed her first professional acting job.
