A kind-hearted six-year-old from Bridlington has generously supported children facing hair loss by donating her hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity dedicated to providing real hair wigs to youngsters affected by cancer and other medical conditions.
Scarlet-Rose Amelia Stones Broadbent made the decision to cut her hair for the charity entirely on her own.
Alongside her hair donation, she also managed to raise an impressive £220 in sponsorship for the charity.
Although Scarlet-Rose admits she misses her long locks, she is thrilled that her hair will be used to help those in need. She had been contemplating the charitable act for several months before finally going through with the haircut.
Her mother, Kody Stones, suggested that Scarlet-Rose wait a bit longer before making the cut but was curious about her daughter’s motivation.
Scarlet-Rose told her family that it upset her to think that some girls do not have the beautiful hair she enjoys, and she wanted to do something meaningful, knowing she could eventually grow her hair back.
Mum Kody, who has experienced the impact of cancer within their family, was delighted in her daughter’s selflessness. “We are all so proud and emotional about what she has done,” she said.
Kody added, “Scarlet-Rose makes me proud every day:”To commemorate her generous donation, a certificate of thanks has been presented to Scarlet-Rose, which now holds a special place in their home.”
